The film is the attempt of a cinematic oil painting of an old man, who has achieved a lot for German culture. He has been one of the most prominent politicians concerned with cultural affairs in Germany. He is the founder of the Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen and former president of the Goethe-Institute. Appreciating his achievements, I was more interested in getting to know the person behind all his accomplishments. I wanted to get to his core. Wanted to be close to him. Hilmar certainly did not make it easy for me.
